Introducing Project Skills: Turn Your Team’s Expertise into a Reusable Asset

A new way to standardize workflows, accelerate onboarding, and build a collective brain for your projects.
Today, we’re introducing Project Skills—a new layer of organization in Manus that allows you to create a dedicated, curated library of skills for each of your projects.
Project Skills transforms a standard project folder into an intelligent, self-contained workspace. By bundling the exact capabilities needed for a specific initiative—whether from your wider team or your own personal collection—you create a single source of truth for how work gets done. It’s a simple concept with a profound impact: you’re no longer just sharing tasks; you’re sharing the very engine that completes them.
Key Capabilities
A new team member joins your project. They’re brilliant and eager to contribute, but they’re immediately faced with a wall of unwritten rules. They have to ask: “Which tool do we use for generating reports?” “What’s the right format for our weekly updates?” “Where is that script the design team uses?” The work itself is repeatable, but the setup and the institutional knowledge are not.
With Project Skills, you can:
•Build Project-Specific Libraries: Curate a dedicated toolkit for any project. Add skills from your organization’s shared “Team Skills” pool or import them from your own personal library to create the perfect workflow.
•Create Contained Workflows: Ensure precision and predictability. When you or a team member runs a task within a project, Manus will only trigger skills from that project’s dedicated library, preventing unrelated or outdated skills from interfering.
•Lock and Standardize Workflows: Solidify a process by locking the skill set for a project. This creates a “gold-standard” workflow, allowing new members to join and instantly adopt the team’s best practices without the risk of accidentally modifying the process.
Why It Matters
Project Skills changes how you collaborate:
•Accelerate Onboarding: Instead of lengthy documents and training sessions, new team members can learn by doing. By joining a project, they instantly inherit the exact tools and processes needed to contribute effectively from day one.
•Standardize Best Practices: Turn individual expertise into a team-wide asset. If one person builds a brilliant skill for analyzing customer feedback, it can be added to every relevant project, scaling that expertise across the entire organization.
•Build a Collective Brain: Each project becomes a living repository of institutional knowledge. As you add and refine skills, your projects get smarter and more efficient over time, creating a powerful, self-reinforcing loop of improvement.
How to Get Started
Getting started with Project Skills is simple:
1.Navigate to any project and click the new “Skills” button
2.Click the “+ Add” button to open the skill browser.
3.Filter by “Team” to see skills shared across your organization or “My Skills” to access your personal library.
4.Click on any skill to add it to your project’s dedicated library.
5.(Optional) Click the lock icon next to the “Manage” button to preserve the workflow and prevent edits from other project members.
We believe that the future of work isn’t just about better communication; it’s about creating systems that scale expertise. Project Skills is a major step in that direction, making it easier than ever to turn your team’s unique knowledge into a durable, competitive advantage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I add skills from outside my team or personal library?
A: Yes. You can also add any of the “Official Essential” or “Official Pro” skills provided by Manus to your projects.
Q: What happens if a task requires a skill that isn’t in the project’s library?
A: It will not be triggered. Project Skills creates a contained environment, meaning only skills explicitly added to the project are available for use within it. This ensures consistency and prevents unexpected behavior.
