Ask what came in and what went out
Manus reads your invoices, payments and chart of accounts, then answers with the numbers and where they came from. Ask follow-up questions the way you would ask your bookkeeper.
Connect your own Xero organization and Manus reads invoices, contacts, accounts, payments and bank transactions, and pulls profit and loss, balance sheet and aged receivables and payables reports. It can also add contacts and draft invoices and quotes, which stay as drafts in Xero until you approve them. Payroll works only in the regions Xero supports.

Xero AI reporting in plain words: ask for any of the three by month or quarter, compare periods and get a one-page summary or a short slide deck.
See who owes what and how late, then send a polite follow-up you’ve checked yourself.
Manus reads unpaid invoices and each customer’s aged receivables, lists who is late, by how much and for how long, and drafts a reminder for each one for you to check and send. It works alongside any Xero automatic invoice reminders you’ve turned on.
Xero invoice automation that stops at a draft: Manus fills in the lines, and you approve and send in Xero.
Describe the work in a chat or upload a spreadsheet of line items. Manus finds the contact, or adds a new one, drafts the invoice or quote in Xero and sends you the link. You check it and approve it in Xero.
Hand off the checking and the reporting, and keep the decisions with you and your accountant.
Manus lists the month’s bank transactions and manual journals and flags entries that look off, such as possible duplicates, missing references or unusual amounts, so your accountant knows where to look.
Set it up as a scheduled task, and on the first of every month Manus pulls your profit and loss, balance sheet and aged receivables and sends you a short report.
Xero is already in Manus Connectors. You create a Custom Connection in Xero once, then paste its Client ID and Client Secret.
In your Xero developer account, create a Custom Connection app, add every scope listed in Xero’s MCP server guide and choose who authorizes it. That person approves it from an email Xero sends.
Once it’s approved, copy the Client ID from the app details page and generate a Client Secret.
Open Connectors in Manus, select Xero, paste the two values and connect.
Name a customer, a month or a report and say what you need in plain words.
New to this? Connect Xero’s Demo Company first. It comes with sample data, and Xero doesn’t charge for connecting a Custom Connection to it.
Yes. Manus runs Xero’s own open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, @xeroapi/xero-mcp-server, which Xero publishes on GitHub. It’s already set up in Manus Connectors, so there’s nothing to install or host.
In your Xero developer account, create a Custom Connection, add every scope listed in Xero’s MCP server guide and pick who authorizes it. Once that person approves it from Xero’s email, copy the Client ID and generate a Client Secret. Then open Connectors in Manus, select Xero, paste them into XERO_CLIENT_ID and XERO_CLIENT_SECRET and connect. Keep the secret out of chat messages. Whether a Custom Connection costs extra is up to Xero, so check Xero’s pricing for your organization.
No. Xero’s MCP server isn’t a hosted address you add by URL. Manus runs it for you, so the only things you paste are the Client ID and Client Secret from your Custom Connection.
Most of the work is reading. New invoices, quotes and credit notes are saved as drafts, so nothing is approved or sent until you do it in Xero. Some tools change your books right away: recording payments and bank transactions, editing bank transactions, posting manual journals and, for payroll, approving or deleting timesheets. For those, ask Manus to show you the changes first and confirm before it makes them.
Yes, as drafts. Manus sends the invoice details through the connector, Xero saves a draft sales invoice or bill, and Manus gives you the link to it. You check the lines, then approve and send it from Xero. Quotes work the same way.
Xero offers Custom Connections for organizations in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US. In Xero’s MCP server, the payroll tools for employees, leave and timesheets work only for organizations in New Zealand and the UK. Xero sets both limits, so check Xero for the latest.
Yes, and Xero suggests starting there. The Demo Company comes with sample data, and Xero lets you connect a Custom Connection to it for free while you try things out. When you’re ready, set up a Custom Connection for your real organization.
No. Xero AI features such as JAX, Xero’s own AI assistant, are built into Xero by Xero. Manus is a separate general AI agent that works on your Xero data through Xero’s official MCP server. You can keep using both.
The tools in Xero’s MCP server. Among them, Manus can list invoices, contacts, accounts, payments, bank transactions, quotes, credit notes, manual journals, items and tax rates; pull profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance and aged receivables and payables reports; create or update contacts, items and draft invoices, quotes and credit notes; record payments, bank transactions and manual journals; and, in New Zealand and the UK, work with payroll timesheets. Xero’s MCP server guide has the full list.
No. A “Xero MCP Claude” guide has you add Xero’s server to Claude Desktop yourself, and searches for a Xero ChatGPT integration, a Xero ChatGPT connector, a Xero Claude integration or a Xero Claude connector are about setting it up in those apps. In Manus, Xero is already in Connectors: paste your Custom Connection details once, then ask in any task.
It doesn’t replace your accountant. People looking for “AI accounting Xero” or “AI bookkeeping Xero” tools usually want the busywork done: Manus answers questions from your books, pulls reports, finds overdue invoices, drafts invoices and prepares month-end checks. Your accountant or bookkeeper still reviews and approves the entries.
Yes. Open Connectors in Manus, select Xero and choose Disconnect.
